The Giro delle Dolomiti is a beloved international road cycling event that has brought together amateur cyclists from around the world for nearly five decades. Organized since 1977 by the non-profit ASD Giro delle Dolomiti, this legendary week‑long tour showcases the dramatic, UNESCO‑listed landscapes of the Dolomites in northern Italy.
A Brief History
Born as a journey into the timeless beauty of the Alps, the Giro has grown over the years into a signature amateur stage race. Today’s format—featuring both scenic group rides and competitive mountain time trials (“Crono”) on closed roads—balances sporting challenge with community spirit and exploration Epic Road Rides.
The 2025 Edition
The 48th Giro delle Dolomiti, held from 21 to 25 July 2025, spans more than 400 km and climbs nearly 10,000 m across five stunning stages, all departing from Bolzano’s FieraBolzano fairground
Highlights include:
Stage 2: the iconic Sellaronda, tackling Passo Sella, Pordoi, Campolongo, and Gardena.
Stage 4: the famed Stelvio Pass, featuring a 13‑km Crono climb up the 48 hairpin bends, the toughest timed section of the week.
Each stage includes a timed mountain segment—the only portion that counts toward the overall ranking—with the rest at a controlled group pace to savor the spectacular scenery and make new friends.
With limited field size (typically under 600 participants per stage) and top‑notch logistics—mechanics, massages, baggage transport, gourmet refreshment stops, and digital route files—the event delivers high quality and a welcoming atmosphere suedtirolerland.it.
